Strange year. Normally Canadian working holiday and internship visas are not available until December or January. However this year they are available in November. This means that if you want to come to Canada for an internship or working holiday in 2009, you need to apply yesterday. Nearly.
Visas for French, Swiss and Belgian citizens are available next week. For Germans, and the Dutch on November 24th. Italian applications are still on the old timeline – which means no news on application dates will be released until mid December. For the other countries – no word on deadlines.
So basically what this means is this: if you are German, French, Belgian, or Dutch and want to come to Canada in 2009 for an internship, you need to apply right away. if you want to apply for a visa, you first need an internship offer. We arrange those – but it’ll take us about 3 weeks. German visas run out within a month, French within 2 months, the other countries within 3 months. So, if you register for an internship program within the next 4 weeks, you’ll have enough time to apply for a visa in Germany – 6 weeks to apply for a visa in France, and your practical deadline for the other countries is the end of January.
For working holiday, it’s much more flexible. You don’t need an internship offer to apply – but you still need to get your applications in right away. If you’re in Germany – we’d recommend getting your working holiday applications in no later than November 26th.
